The Emerging Sales Director is a first-line sales leader responsible for building, managing, and scaling PlayMetrics’ sales motion across 3 sports verticals rapidly growing within the PlayMetrics business: Volleyball, Lacrosse, and Football. This role sits in a pivotal position within the sales organization, owning both the people leadership and revenue outcomes for these developing markets.

This leader will be accountable for hiring, onboarding, training, and developing high-performing Account Executives while establishing repeatable sales execution, strong territory discipline, and competitive selling capabilities. This role exists to turn promising sports verticals into repeatable, scalable GTM motions with clear signals on where to double down.

Note: This is a full-time position, and we are looking for a local candidate to work in the office at our Morrisville, NC headquarters, currently hybrid work-from-home three days per week, but subject to the Company’s needs and policies in the future.


Key Responsibilities 


Sales Leadership and Revenue Ownership

  • Own the revenue target, forecast accuracy, and pipeline health for the emerging sports portfolio

  • Drive consistent execution of PlayMetrics’ sales methodology across volleyball, lacrosse, and football.

  • Partner with Sales Leadership to establish realistic growth plans and investment priorities for each sport.

  • Ensure strong CRM hygiene, forecasting rigor and deal inspection cadence

  • Balance near-term revenue delivery with disciplined market validation (deal patterns, sales cycle, pricing sensitivities)


Team Building and Talent Development

  • Hire, onboard, and ramp Account Executives who are comfortable selling into evolving markets with less brand pull, fewer references, and more ambiguity.

  • Provide ongoing coaching in:

    • Consultative selling and discovery

    • Territory and account planning

    • Competitive positioning and objection handling

    • Deal Strategy and closing execution

  • Conduct regular 1:1’s, deal reviews

  • Build development plans that prepare reps for increased scope and future leadership opportunities

        

Territory and Market Development

  • Define and refine territory coverage to maximize growth potential

  • Help reps prioritize high-value accounts and emerging growth opportunities

  • Establish best practices for prospecting, account expansion, and multi-stakeholder selling

  • Collaborate with Marketing to validate sport-specific ICP’s, messaging and demand signals, and provide structured feedback on lead quality and conversion patterns.


Competitive and Cross Functional Leadership

  • Serve as the internal expert on competitive dynamics with emerging sports

  • Provide feedback to Product, Marketing, and Customer Success based on field insights

  • Partner closely with Customer Success to ensure smooth handoffs, renewals, and expansion opportunities

  • Advocate for resources, enablement, and tooling required to scale these sports successfully


Qualified Applicants:

  • 5+ years of B2B Sales Experience, 2+ years in a sales management position

  • Proven success hiring, coaching and developing quota carrying Account Executives

  • Experience owning a team forecast and sales quota

  • Strong Command of sales process, pipeline management, CRM discipline

  • Ability to balance short-term execution and long term market development

  • Experience selling to youth sports, SaaS platforms, and complex B2B preferred

  • Will be at least 18 years of age

  • Will be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer in the US.
